American Airlines Flight Diverted Due to Fire in Cabin

A Phoenix-bound flight was forced to land in Virginia after reports of fire broke out in the main cabin. The American Airlines flight, which had 160 passengers and six crew members on board, diverted to Washington Dulles International Airport due to a fire in one of the passenger rows.

According to officials, smoke was detected coming from a “customer’s device” and the fire was quickly contained by crew members before landing safely at the airport. The medical emergency on board involved a woman who had asthma and needed oxygen due to the smoke-filled cabin.

The flight, which was originally headed from Philadelphia International Airport to Phoenix, made an unexpected stop in Virginia after the fire incident. The FAA is currently investigating the cause of the fire and what device it originated from.
