Micah Parsons Contract Update: Cowboys Edge Rusher Holds Out Ahead of Season Opener

The Dallas Cowboys are set to face their opening game against the Philadelphia Eagles this Thursday, but one key player is still holding out. Four-time Pro Bowler Micah Parsons remains unsigned on a contract extension, despite being in attendance at the team’s preseason win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently appeared on Michael Irvin’s YouTube channel, stating that negotiations with Parsons’ agent have stalled. According to Jones, Parsons and he had already agreed on terms for the deal, including amount, guarantees, and years. However, Parsons’ agent reportedly told Jones not to bother discussing it further.

Meanwhile, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer has announced plans to meet with Parsons following his actions during the Falcons game, where images of Parsons napping on the training table circulated on social media. The edge rusher later addressed the incident on social media, claiming he was lying down for a short period of time and stating that he would never disrespect players who are fighting for their lives.

With the regular season just around the corner, it remains to be seen whether Parsons will sign his extension before the Cowboys’ season opener against the Eagles. The team’s schedule is as follows: Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025 – Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia (8:20 p.m. ET), NBC, Peacock, NFL+, fubo.
