Cracker Barrel admitted on Monday that it could’ve done a better job sharing its values and heritage with customers after the restaurant chain’s new logo sparked outrage. The company said what has not changed are its core values of hard work, family, and scratch-cooked food made with care. It emphasized that iconic imagery like Uncle Herschel will remain a part of the brand.
The chain redesigned its interior to modernize its kitschy American aesthetic, replacing it with a sleeker design. However, fans expressed disappointment over the removal of Uncle Herschel from the logo, leading to a backlash on social media and a decline in stock price. Despite this, Cracker Barrel stated that 87% of respondents in their research liked or loved the new logo.
The company maintains its commitment to offering comfort, community, and country hospitality, which remains unchanged despite the changes. A spokesperson emphasized that Uncle Herschel will continue to be part of the brand’s identity.
