Sabres’ Winless Streak Hits 9 Games with 4-2 Loss to Capitals

The Buffalo Sabres lost their ninth straight game on Saturday night in Washington, D.C., falling to the East-leading Capitals 4-2. The Sabres set an NHL record for longest winless streak since 2021, which was also 18 games.

Jason Zucker and Juri Kulich scored goals for Buffalo. However, Tom Wilson tallied two goals for Washington, while Dylan Strome sealed the win with a goal in the third period. Jakob Chychrun added an empty-net score.

Buffalo’s struggles on power plays have continued, as they went scoreless in two opportunities and are now 1-28 over their last 11 games. Zucker attributed the team’s struggles to not being able to close out games when leading or being tied by one goal.

The Sabres will conclude their back-to-back set against Toronto on Sunday before visiting Montreal on Tuesday.
