Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon is expected to miss at least the first four weeks of the 2025 season due to a foot injury. The team will place him on the reserve/non-football injury list, which means he’ll be out for at least four games.
Mixon suffered the injury while working out this offseason and initially downplayed it, but his diagnosis has worsened than expected. As a result, veteran running back Nick Chubb is likely to take over as the starting RB1 for the Texans in Week 1.
Chubb, who played for the Cleveland Browns from 2017-2023, is coming off an injury-plagued season and will look to make a comeback in Houston. The team may also rely on other backs like Dameon Pierce and Dare Ogunbowale until Mixon returns.
