A 22-year-old lawyer from Brazil died after suffering a severe allergic reaction during a routine CT scan. Leticia Paul was undergoing the scan at Alto Vale Regional Hospital in Rio do Sul, Brazil, on August 20. The anaphylactic shock was caused by a contrast agent used in the scan. Medical staff performed life-saving measures, but she died less than 24 hours later.
Paul had a history of kidney stones and was pursuing postgraduate studies in law and real estate. Her aunt described her as “studious” and said she would be a well-known name in the legal world. The hospital has released a statement reaffirming its commitment to healthcare safety and transparency, highlighting that all procedures are conducted according to recommended clinical protocols.
