Samsung’s New Android XR Headset Launch Date and Price Revealed

South Korea’s Newsworks has released a report claiming to reveal key details about Samsung’s upcoming Android XR headset. According to the report, Samsung is targeting a price between 2.5 million and 4 million South Korean won (approximately $1800 to $3000), with preorders set to open on September 29.

The report also suggests that the headset will be launched in Korea first in October, followed by a global rollout. This limited rollout would likely be due to the high cost and supply limits of the 4K micro-OLED displays used in the device.

Samsung’s headset was first announced over two years ago, with Google handling software and Qualcomm providing the chipset. The actual design was revealed at the end of last year, and it is expected to ship as a product in 2025.

Multiple reports have claimed that the headset will use Sony’s new micro-OLED display, which features higher resolution and wider color gamut than Apple Vision Pro. However, Samsung has not yet confirmed any further details about the device.

The report also suggests that Samsung plans to produce just 100,000 headsets per year, indicating a limited rollout this year. The exact design of the headset’s controllers remains unknown, with no confirmation on whether they will be included in the box or sold as an optional accessory.
