Cowboys Make Roster Moves Ahead of Season Opener

The Dallas Cowboys’ roster overhaul is underway as the team makes several moves ahead of their season opener against the Eagles. The first significant move was transitioning cornerback Trevon Diggs from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to the active roster, allowing him a chance to play in Week 1.

Diggs will not be ready for the opening game but now has a roster spot, offset by the release of veteran offensive lineman La’el Collins. The team also struck a trade deal sending Asim Richards to the Saints in exchange for compensation.

The Cowboys have released or waived several players, including Saahdiq Charles, Geron Christian, and Israel Mukuamu. The list includes 18 players who were waived and two players designated for injured reserve.

As the NFL preseason is now complete, teams must finalize their 53-man roster by cutting down unessential personnel. The Cowboys’ moves set the stage for the final days of roster formation and the practice squad, which will be announced shortly after the main roster is finalized.
