Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been giving his neighbors noise-canceling headphones in an apparent attempt to block out the insufferable construction sounds coming from his sprawling 11-home compound in California’s Crescent Park neighborhood. The Meta CEO, worth over $260 billion, has taken steps to transform the once-peaceful community into an entertainment center and private estate, leaving locals frustrated.
Zuckerberg began buying up properties in the area in 2011 after moving to Palo Alto with his wife Priscilla Chan. Since then, he has snapped up at least 11 homes worth over $110 million, including five transformed into a luxurious compound complete with guest homes, lush gardens, and a private school for their three children.
Despite numerous complaints from neighbors about noise, construction, and security measures, Zuckerberg continues to push forward with his plans. Residents claim that city officials are “bowing down” to the billionaire’s every whim, approving 56 permits for his properties since he moved into the neighborhood.
The recent gift of noise-canceling headphones has sparked outrage among locals, who feel it is an insult to their patience and a reminder of Zuckerberg’s vast wealth disparity. Many have taken to social media to express their disgust, with one user calling him an “a**hole” and another saying, “Billionaires everywhere are used to just making their own rules.”
