Apple to Adopt Tandem OLED Tech in iPhones?

Apple’s latest iPad Pro models introduced tandem OLED screen technology, bringing numerous benefits. Now, LG, one of the company’s display suppliers, is urging Apple to adopt this tech in their iPhones sooner rather than later. However, this transition is expected to take a couple of years.

The cost of producing tandem OLED panels was previously high, as seen with Samsung’s slow adoption for the latest iPad Pro models. Current iPhones use LTPO technology, which allows for dynamic refresh rates between 10Hz and 120Hz. Tandem OLED would further enhance efficiency, brightness, and lifespan.

LG wants to capitalize on this technology by mass producing millions of units for future iPhone models. The company is investing heavily in production facilities to make it a reality. If Apple agrees, the earliest we can expect tandem OLED in an iPhone is 2028.

It’s worth noting that the foldable variant might not feature tandem OLED due to technical complexities. Despite this, experts remain optimistic about potential future releases. For now, LG’s push for this technology highlights the lucrative market potential of iPhones featuring tandem OLED panels.
