Chiefs’ Rashee Rice Faces 6-Game Suspension, Missing Multiple Games

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been handed a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. He will begin serving his suspension at the start of the season and be eligible to return in Week 7 ahead of their Oct. 19 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Rice was sentenced in July to 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to two third-degree felony charges related to a multicar crash in Dallas that left multiple people injured during the 2024 offseason. The NFL’s internal investigation led to the suspension, which Rice has chosen not to appeal.

As a result of his suspension, Rice will miss several games this season, including their opener against the Chargers, a Super Bowl rematch with the Eagles, and matchups against the Giants, Ravens, Jaguars, Lions, and Chiefs’ Sunday night trip to New York. In 2023, Rice had a successful rookie season with 79 receptions for 938 yards and seven touchdowns.

Rice’s case drew attention due to his high-speed crash on Dallas’ North Central Expressway, where he drove at 119 mph and fled the scene on foot after colliding with other vehicles. He has since apologized for his actions, stating that he will work within his means to make amends to those affected by his behavior.
