US Envoy and Former PM Blair Discuss Post-War Gaza Plan with Trump

US President Donald Trump met with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his son-in-law Jared Kushner at the White House on Wednesday, presenting him with ideas for a post-war plan for Gaza. The meeting aimed to address the humanitarian crisis in the enclave, which is facing famine.

The proposal includes increasing aid flows into Gaza without Hamas’s control. However, rebuilding an utterly destroyed Gaza and designing a political and security architecture that all sides can live with will be challenging. Trump has been clear about wanting peace and prosperity for everyone in the region.

Kushner and Blair plan to discuss ideas on how Gaza can be governed without Hamas power. The meeting also touches upon increasing food aid, which could benefit up to 1 million people in Gaza. White House envoy Steve Witkoff said that a post-war plan will address President Trump’s humanitarian motives and reflect his desire for peace.

The US official stated that Trump wants the war to end, citing “starvation” in Gaza. However, critics worry about the potential consequences of expanding military operations in Gaza City, which could lead to more deaths and destruction.

Netanyahu faces pressure from protesters and Israel’s military leadership to accept a ceasefire. A post-war plan with the White House could provide him with political cover while presenting a comprehensive deal to remove Hamas from power.
