The Nebraska football team is gearing up for their season opener against Cincinnati in Kansas City, Missouri. Coach Matt Rhule believes his team is ready after an intense fall camp and acknowledges the unpredictability of Week 1 games.
The Huskers have a new starting kicker, Kyle Cunanan, who won the top spot over Tristen Alvano and John Hohl. The team has also awarded 10 “Blackshirts” to its starters, but Rhule noted that the defensive tackle position is still up for debate.
Before departing for Kansas City, the Huskers will conduct a walk-through practice at a local high school on Wednesday and a pre-game warm-up on Thursday morning. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Thursday, with ESPN providing television coverage.
Weather conditions are expected to be mostly dry by kickoff, with temperatures in the lower 70s. Thousands of Nebraska fans are expected to attend, making it a lively atmosphere for the team’s first game in Kansas City since 2006.
