Upcoming iPhone Updates to Expect from iOS 26

Apple has released the latest version of iOS 26, but the company is already working on its next software updates. The first developer beta for iOS 26.1 is expected to be released soon, bringing new features and improvements.

One of the most anticipated features in iOS 26 is the Digital ID feature, which will allow users to store a digital version of their U.S. passport in the Wallet app. This feature has been delayed but is expected to arrive in future updates. When available, users can use it for identity verification purposes at TSA checkpoints and age/identity verification in apps.

Another notable update is RCS upgrades, which include end-to-end encryption, in-line replies, edit messages, unsend messages, and full-fledged Tapback support for RCS messages. These features were introduced in March but have yet to be implemented on iPhones. Apple needs to wait for carriers to implement RCS Universal Profile 3.0 before rolling out the upgrades.

A more personalized version of Siri is also expected to launch with iOS 26.4, featuring better understanding of a user’s context, on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls. Additionally, new emojis are likely to be added to the iPhone in iOS 26.4, including the trombone, treasure chest, distorted face, hairy creature, fight cloud, Apple core, orca, ballet dancers, landslide, and more.

These updates demonstrate Apple’s ongoing commitment to improving user experience and security. With several new features and improvements on the horizon, users can expect a seamless and enhanced iPhone experience with iOS 26 and beyond.
