Ted Cruz Denounces FCC Chairman’s Threats Against Broadcasters

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr recently threatened to pull ABC’s broadcast license if they don’t air more favorable coverage of conservative influencers. However, GOP Sen. Ted Cruz strongly disagreed with this move, calling it “unbelievably dangerous” and comparing it to “mafioso” tactics.

Cruz expressed relief that ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel off the air after he made critical comments about conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. While Cruz disagrees with Kimmel’s views, he believes government interference in speech is a problem for conservatives when Democrats regain power.

As the chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, which oversees the FCC, Cruz warned that this kind of power could be used to silence conservatives. He stated that if the government starts dictating what speech is acceptable, it will backfire when Democrats take control again. This threat has drawn widespread criticism from the left, but Cruz’s comments represent one of the strongest denunciations of the FCC chairman’s actions by a conservative elected official.
