Police Crack Down on Crystal Meth Lab in Volksrust, 5 Suspects Apprehended

The police have successfully shut down a crystal meth laboratory in Volksrust through Operation Shanela 2. The MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mr. Jackie Macie, welcomes the apprehension of five suspects linked to the lab. He commends the police for their swift response and urges them to ensure all involved individuals are brought to justice.

The authorities have condemned illicit drug operations, citing their threat to community health, safety, and well-being. The MEC calls on communities to provide anonymous information to expose drug dealers, emphasizing that drugs destroy the country’s future. With two suspects still at large, police are now monitoring unused farms for possible hidden laboratories.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the five foreign nationals in custody were in the country illegally, facing charges under the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act and Immigration Act. The farm caretaker faces possible charges for ammunition possession.
