Horror movie sequels can be hit or miss, especially when they take risks to shake things up. One example is Halloween Ends, which aimed to introduce a new killer while wrapping up the Michael Myers saga. The film had some good ideas about the cyclical nature of evil and provided a satisfying conclusion to Michael’s story. However, the execution fell short.
The movie tried to balance two different narratives: Corey Cunningham’s origin story and the resolution of Michael Myers’ storyline with Laurie Strode. This disjointed approach resulted in a rushed feel that didn’t quite work. The new villain, Corey, was not particularly compelling, despite Andi Matichak’s efforts. Overall, Halloween Ends feels like a mess, and its bold attempt to defy expectations didn’t quite pay off.
