The new iPhone 17 Pro has a 7 out of 10 repairability score from iFixit due to its innovative design. However, Apple still faces criticism for not addressing “Scratchgate,” scratches and scuffs caused by worn-out MagSafe risers. While some features like the removable battery, easily swappable cameras, and vapor chamber make repairs easier, others, such as the charging ports and speakers, are difficult to fix due to the high number of screws involved.
Apple is being advised to simplify the repair process by reducing screw types and allowing access to key parts from the back panel. Despite its flaws, the iPhone 17 Pro shows signs of progress in repairability, with some features making it a more DIY-friendly device.
