Microsoft has rolled out a new Copilot Chat integration across its 365 apps, making everyday tasks easier and smarter. This free feature allows users to access the AI assistant as a sidebar in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
The new feature is designed to help users ask questions, draft documents, create presentations, analyze spreadsheets, and more without requiring an additional license at $30 per user per month. The AI assistant can view the current document, spreadsheet, or presentation open in Microsoft 365 apps and provides access to tools like interactive Pages canvas, image generation, multiple file uploads support.
Users can now complete tasks quickly by typing a slash (“/”) and searching for needed tools, files, or actions within the chat. However, premium features require a subscription, including all file access, email, meetings, chats, and more, as well as advanced reasoning capabilities like Researcher and Analyst agents.
This new integration is available for free for Microsoft 365 business customers, while subscribers can access additional premium features with the Copilot subscription, which includes a graphic design studio and priority access to OpenAI’s GPT-5 model.
