Federal Agents Spotted Downtown Chicago, Mayor Responds

Gov JB Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson responded to reports of federal agents being spotted in downtown Chicago on Sunday. The agents were seen near Millennium Park and possibly along the Chicago River. It’s unclear what prompted their presence or if anyone was detained.

Earlier, President Donald Trump shared a video clip from Saturday night’s interaction between federal agents and protesters in Broadview, Illinois, where he said “Border Patrol will take no nonsense!” Governor Pritzker described the scene as a “show of intimidation” that hurts businesses and makes communities fearful. Mayor Johnson called it a “brazen provocation” that doesn’t make the city safer.

Local officials, including Alderperson Jessie Fuentes and State Representative Lilian Jiménez, also spoke out against the presence of agents in the city, saying they stand firm on their stance. The mayor promised to release updates as more information becomes available.
