Feds Find 200,000 Stolen SIM Cards in NJ

US authorities have discovered over 200,000 stolen mobile phone SIM cards at a location in New Jersey, following a larger network disruption that threatened the UN General Assembly meetings. Last week, the US Secret Service found an organized telecom system with 300 SIM servers and 100,000 SIM cards, which could be used for espionage or attacks on emergency services.

The SIM cards are believed to have been linked to foreign governments and organized crime gangs, including human trafficking rings. Law enforcement is analyzing the SIM cards’ data, which can reveal thousands of texts, calls, and searches made by users with these cards.

This discovery follows a tip from last spring and comes as authorities continue their investigation, which has already resulted in the seizure of five sites with active SIM farms. Despite this, no arrests have been made yet.
