Joy Rogers, a retiree and mother of three from California, was among four people killed in a shooting at American Fish Company in Southport, North Carolina. The pub’s owner, Lennie Rogers, described his wife as “a devoted wife to her husband and a loving mother” who touched countless lives in their community.
The shooter, Nigel Edge, opened fire on the patrons while they enjoyed scenic views of boats traveling along the Intracoastal Waterway. Five others were injured in the attack. Investigators say the act was premeditated and targeted at the pub, but a motive for the shooting remains unknown.
Lennie Rogers was present when his wife was killed and was not injured. American Fish Company is closed pending an investigation. Law enforcement agencies worked quickly to apprehend Edge, who faces multiple charges in connection with the attack.
