Minnesota Man Sentenced to 7½ Years in Prison for DWI

A 70-year-old Minneapolis man with a long history of drunken driving convictions has been sentenced to prison after being caught again last New Year’s Eve. Michael James Bowser, who has 22 prior convictions, was given a 7½-year term by a Hennepin County District Judge. Although he will only serve about 4½ years due to time already spent in jail, his sentence marks the latest attempt to curb his dangerous driving habits. A sheriff’s sergeant had pulled him over after witnessing his erratic behavior on the roads. The sentence reflects concerns that Bowser poses a threat to road safety and is grateful no lives were lost as a result of his conduct.
