FBI Director Kash Patel Cuts Ties with Anti-Defamation League Over ‘Love Letters’

FBI Director Kash Patel has severed ties with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) after accusing its former leader, James Comey, of embedding agents in an “extreme group” and prioritizing activism over law enforcement. Patel says the era of cooperation between the FBI and ADL is over.

The ADL released a statement expressing respect for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and reiterating its commitment to fighting antisemitism and hate. However, this comes as the organization faces backlash from Elon Musk and Republican lawmakers over its labeling of conservative groups like Turning Point USA (TPUSA).

In 2017, Comey addressed the ADL National Leadership Summit, declaring his love for the organization and stating that the FBI works with it to build bridges in communities. Patel criticizes this approach, saying it put Americans in danger.

The ADL recently removed its “Glossary of Extremism” after facing criticism from Musk and others over its labeling of certain groups as extremist or hateful.
