Police Probe Leads to Home Working Ban Amid Key-Jamming Scandal

Police in Greater Manchester have suspended home working privileges after an investigation into “key-jamming”, a tactic that allows people to falsely appear to be working on their devices. Twenty-six individuals, including officers and staff, are facing misconduct proceedings. The anti-corruption unit found “abnormal key stroke behaviour” on police-issued devices, which can be caused by items left on the keypad or manipulated to make it seem like someone is actively working. This move is part of a program to improve efficiency and drive out poor performance.
