Apple Ditches Plus Sign from Streaming Service Name

Apple has rebranded its streaming service as “Apple TV” instead of “Apple TV+”, a change that may signal a shift towards ad-supported options. The move comes after a $3.7 trillion company was criticized for not including commercials in its premium streaming service, Apple TV+. Apple raised the price to $12.99 per month in August and still hasn’t introduced an affordable tier with ads. This decision is similar to ESPN’s rebranding of its app from “ESPN+” to just “ESPN”. Other streaming services, such as CNN+, have also dropped the plus sign, while a few like BET+ and AMC+ are still using it. The move may be a precursor to Apple introducing an ad-supported plan, which would make its service more accessible to a wider audience.
