Residents in Springfield, Dunes City, and two fire districts are getting ballots for the Nov. 4 special election. If you live in these areas or are registered to vote, you’ll receive a ballot with a single measure on it.
There are four measures on the ballot, but each voter will see only one relevant to their jurisdiction. For example, Dunes City voters will only see a measure to amend the city’s charter.
Three of the measures ask for five-year local option levies for fire departments:
* Springfield: A 53-cent levy per $1,000 of assessed value, increasing annual payments by $30.
* South Lane County Fire & Rescue District: A 94-cent levy per $1,000 of assessed value, increasing annual payments by $94.
* Lane Fire Authority: A 55-cent levy per $1,000 of assessed value, increasing annual payments by $40.
The fourth measure proposes changing the Dunes City charter. Ballots will be mailed starting Oct. 15, and registration is still open until Oct. 14 at 11:59 p.m.
