Illinois Police Officer Arrested for Being Undocumented Immigrant

A police officer from Illinois who was living in the US without proper papers has been arrested by immigration authorities. Radule Bojovic, a 10-year resident of the US, had been working as a sworn police officer with the Hanover Park Police Department. He was taken into custody during Operation Midway Blitz, which targets undocumented immigrants.

Bojovic’s case raises questions about Illinois’ sanctuary policies, which have attracted criticism from President Donald Trump and his administration. The governor of Illinois has sued the Trump administration to block National Guard action in the state.

The arrest highlights the tension between federal immigration authorities and the governors of sanctuary states like Illinois. It also underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in balancing their duties with the need to enforce immigration laws.

In this case, Bojovic had been working as a police officer for over five years, despite being in the US without proper documentation. He had been approved by the Pension Fund Board of Trustees and received a starting salary of $78,955.70.

The incident has sparked controversy, with some critics accusing Governor Pritzker of allowing “violent illegal aliens” to work as police officers. However, the governor’s office has denied these allegations, saying that Pritzker only allows undocumented immigrants who pose no threat to public safety to remain in the state.
