Oracle is betting big on artificial intelligence (AI), with recent announcements across its cloud infrastructure, applications, and data analytics. However, experts warn that users’ adoption of AI remains uncertain due to various factors such as data quality, maturity of data management, and legacy system limitations.
The company’s Gartner vice president and analyst, Balaji Abbabatulla, notes that Oracle is “going all in” on AI, with a focus on expanding its AI Agent Studio for Fusion, which promises to help developers build, test, and deploy AI agents. The studio now supports third-party providers like OpenAI and Cohere.
Despite the excitement around AI, users are struggling to figure out how to use it effectively. Abbabatulla emphasizes that customers need a data and data governance strategy to unlock business value from AI agents. He also notes that Oracle’s openness in partnering with various LLM providers and hyperscalers has reduced costs and increased agility.
However, legacy system limitations remain a challenge. Oracle is bringing AI agents to legacy systems such as EBS and PeopleSoft, but users will be limited by the age of these applications. The company offers longer support deadlines than its rivals, but experts caution that these tools are not a guarantee of successful adoption.
As Oracle continues to invest in AI, customers must navigate this complex landscape and make informed decisions about how to integrate AI into their existing systems.
