Get 1 Free Year of Security Updates for Windows 10 After End of Life

Windows 10 ‘end of life’ has officially ended, but don’t worry, Microsoft is offering a free extension to keep you safe. You can enroll in Extended Security Updates (ESU) for an extra year of security updates. To get started, follow these simple steps:

First, ensure your PC is up-to-date by checking in Settings > System > About and installing any available Windows 10 updates.

Next, verify if your PC is eligible to upgrade to Windows 11 or not. If it’s compatible, consider upgrading for free; otherwise, you can proceed with the ESU process.

Then, sign up for ESU by going to Update & Security in Settings and clicking “Enroll Now.” Follow the prompts to enroll your device.

If you see an option to download Windows 11, take advantage of this opportunity. However, if not, you’ll be able to continue using Windows 10 securely with ESU.

The free ESU extension comes with two conditions: linking your Windows login to Microsoft’s cloud-based online service and limiting backup storage to the first 5 GB. You can opt-out of these features by adjusting your settings.

By enrolling in ESU, you’ll receive 12 more months of security updates for Windows 10. We’ll keep you updated on any changes to this story as needed.
