The Oregon Health Plan is shifting its Medicaid coverage from PacificSource to Trillium, a new insurer that will cover 92,000 Lane County residents. The change occurred after PacificSource cited financial losses as the reason for leaving the program at the end of the year.
Trillium’s patient load will quadruple in early next year, raising concerns about access to healthcare services. To address these concerns, the state has drafted a transition plan that prioritizes members with high-risk conditions and works with providers.
The Oregon Health Authority is aiming for a handover on February 1, but patients are advised not to switch yet. Instead, they should wait for more information and continue seeking care as usual.
As part of the transition, PacificSource will provide website and phone numbers to help members get assistance with questions or concerns. The state has also partnered with the for-profit health company Centene Corp., which owns Trillium, to ensure a smooth transfer of care.
