Claude Code is now available to anyone with a Pro ($17 monthly) or Max ($100) subscription to the standard web browsers. This AI-powered coding tool was initially designed for professional engineers but has become an everyday staple among those at Anthropic, Salesforce, Uber, and Deloitte.
According to Boris Cherny, head of Claude Code, its ease of use and accessibility have made it more inviting for everyone to try. “It’s kind of annoying to have to open command-line tools every time you want to code,” he says. “With Claude Code, we’ve eliminated that need.”
Claude Code runs on Anthropic’s AI models and can fix bugs, update files, perform code reviews, and create tasks in project management tools like Asana. It’s considered the first fully agentic coding product, where the model does all the coding, you just describe what you want.
The tool has become an essential part of many companies’ daily operations, with 80% to 90% of users using it daily. Its release has lit a fire under the competition, with ChatGPT releasing a more advanced version of Codex and other AI coding products launching this year.
