A lawsuit in Australia has revealed a way to get Microsoft 365 for cheaper, as long as you don’t need the company’s AI features. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission claims that Microsoft misled customers over subscription price changes.
The commission argues that Microsoft told its subscribers that Copilot would be integrated into certain plans and that they’d have to pay more or cancel their subscription if they didn’t want it. However, there is a third option: downgrading to the Classic plan without AI features.
If you already have Microsoft 365 and don’t need Copilot, follow these steps:
1. Sign in to your Microsoft account.
2. Go to your subscriptions page.
3. Select “Manage.”
4. Click “Cancel subscription.”
5. Downgrade to a plan like Microsoft 365 Personal Classic or Family Classic.
This way, you can save money and avoid AI features if you don’t need them.
