CoreWeave, Inc. has agreed to acquire Marimo Inc., the creator of an open-source Python development environment designed for AI workloads. The acquisition will integrate Marimo’s technology into CoreWeave’s cloud platform, enhancing its AI capabilities.
CoreWeave’s co-founder and chief strategy officer, Brian Venturo, stated that the company is creating a complete environment for AI development, from prototype to production. The technology will complement CoreWeave’s existing Weights & Biases developer platform.
Marimo’s flagship product, Marimo Notebook, provides a reproducible programming environment that enables developers to transition from experimentation to production deployments. CoreWeave has committed to maintaining the open-source project and making the notebook freely available.
This acquisition is part of CoreWeave’s expansion efforts, which include its recent acquisitions of OpenPipe and Weights & Biases, as well as plans to acquire Monolith AI. The company aims to offer AI cloud services to government agencies in the US federal market under its new initiative, CoreWeave Federal.
