Billionaires Fill SNAP Gaps During Government Shutdown

A group of wealthy philanthropists is stepping up to help those who will lose access to food aid due to the government shutdown. In San Francisco, billionaire Michael Moritz’s foundation has pledged $9 million to support the city’s efforts. The Robin Hood Foundation in New York and Bill Cummings’ foundation in Massachusetts have also donated significant funds to emergency funds and nonprofits aimed at offsetting cuts to food assistance programs. This effort aims to help 42 million Americans who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
