YouTube TV has refused Disney’s request to temporarily restore ABC channels for its subscribers on November 4th, citing that their customers didn’t watch ABC during the last two elections. The streamer claims that there are other options available for election news and coverage, including other broadcast stations and news networks.
Disney had asked YouTube TV to revive ABC in favor of “the public interest,” but the request was rejected. Instead, YouTube TV offered a compromise: restore both ABC and ESPN immediately while negotiations continue, as those are the channels that subscribers want.
As of now, no progress has been made on a new deal, and negotiations remain behind closed doors. This dispute highlights the ongoing feud between Disney and YouTube TV over channel carriage.
