NotebookLM has become an essential part of my workflow this year. Its simple interface and multi-tool capabilities make it a versatile tool for notes, design instruction, learning new software, and pairing with other apps to boost their functionality. However, I’ve found that relying solely on NotebookLM for project management and knowledge management can be challenging due to the numerous tools I have installed.
To address this issue, I turned NotebookLM into my primary note-taker and PKM tool. The process was straightforward: setting up notebooks and using the link embed function to build connections between ideas, utilizing the Mind Map feature to visualize links, searching for specific information with the chat panel, and customizing tags to reference sources.
While NotebookLM excels in handling various tasks, it has its limitations as a PKM tool. The lack of chat history can be problematic, but an upcoming update promises to address this issue. Despite this, I’ve found that NotebookLM can efficiently manage notes and connect ideas without relying on core functions like databases.
