Adjusting iOS 26.1 Liquid Glass Effect for Better Legibility

Apple has made it easier for iPhone users to customize the transparent effect of Liquid Glass in their latest update. Introduced in iOS 26.1, a new setting allows users to switch between two options: “Clear” and “Tinted.” The Clear option maintains the original see-through controls, while the Tinted option increases opacity and adds more contrast.

To access this feature, go to Settings > Display & Brightness and select the Liquid Glass setting. Here, you can preview both options before making a choice. Note that there are only two settings available, and users cannot adjust transparency using a slider. This new customization option is part of Apple’s ongoing efforts to make its operating system more user-friendly.

By adjusting the Liquid Glass effect, users can improve legibility and reduce eye strain caused by prolonged use. The update aims to address concerns raised during iOS 26 beta testing, where some users found the transparent design hard to read.
