Hey, remember Windows XP? That operating system from 2001 that’s still fondly remembered by many. But with no updates since 2014, it’s no longer safe or secure.
YouTuber Eric Parker decided to test this by going online with an old Windows XP computer without any protection. He quickly found malware on his system – just a few minutes in! And he didn’t even visit a website yet. The malware was so bad that a new administrator account was added remotely and took control of the system.
In total, Eric detected eight instances of malware (four Trojans) on his computer. This shows how easily an old, unprotected Windows XP system can be hacked into by attackers, even without you doing anything. Firewalls alone aren’t enough to protect your computer from these threats.
Eric’s experiment highlights the importance of keeping your operating system and software up-to-date with the latest security patches and using reliable antivirus programs.
