Windows users in Europe are facing two major issues when trying to access Extended Security Updates (ESU), the optional feature that extends support for Windows 10 until October 2025.
For some, ESU appears as “temporarily unavailable” due to regional market factors, although Microsoft claims it will be available by early October. However, November has arrived, and users in certain EU regions such as the Netherlands are still unable to access ESU.
In another issue, Windows 10 ESU setup throws an error “Something went wrong,” without explanation, causing frustration among users.
Microsoft attributes this error to potential issues with detecting eligibility for consumer Extended Security Updates or incorrectly identifying PCs as part of organizations, where business versions require separate payments. However, a possible workaround lies in fully disconnecting work accounts and deleting related folders in File Explorer.
