William Galston is a leading expert on politics and public policy. He writes the weekly “Politics & Ideas” column for The Wall Street Journal. At the Brookings Institution, he serves as a senior fellow in the Governance Studies Program. Galston has held various prestigious positions, including director of the Institute for Philosophy and Public Policy and executive director of the National Commission on Civic Renewal. A participant in six presidential campaigns, he served as Deputy Assistant to President Clinton from 1993 to 1995.
Galston is a prolific author with over 100 published articles and 10 books. His recent works include “Anti-Pluralism: The Populist Threat to Liberal Democracy”. He has received several notable awards, including the Hubert H. Humphrey Award from the American Political Science Association. Galston was elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2004.
