Warner Music Partners with Suno on AI-Generated Music Platform

Warner Music Group has settled a lawsuit with AI music firm Suno and launched a joint venture. The agreement allows users to create AI-generated music using the voices, names, and likenesses of artists who opt-in. This partnership aims to open new frontiers in music creation while compensating artists and songwriters.

The record label had previously sued Suno along with other music giants like Sony Music and Universal Music Group over concerns about AI-generated content undermining human songwriters. However, the new deal will feature advanced licensed models that require users to pay for audio downloads.

Suno’s platform has around 100 million users and allows users to create music based on simple descriptions. The company is launching a new model in 2026 that will replace its existing version. This model will have paid audio downloads, but songs on the free tier can still be played and shared.

Warner said the partnership ensures artists have control over their names, images, likenesses, voices, and compositions used in AI-generated music. The deal also settles previous litigation between the companies.
