Pentagon Launches Probe into Sen. Mark Kelly for ‘Potentially Unlawful Conduct’

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered the Navy to review Arizona Senator Mark Kelly’s comments in a video to troops, citing “potentially unlawful conduct.” The review was initiated after Kelly criticized Hegseth’s display of medals and accused him of criticizing other lawmakers. Hegseth claims that Kelly’s comments undermined good order and discipline in the military.

The Pentagon had previously announced a thorough review into Kelly’s behavior, which may include recall to active duty for court-martial proceedings or administrative measures. However, Kelly denies knowing about the probe until he heard it from the Defense Department’s statement.

Hegseth’s criticism of Kelly stems from a video featuring six Democrats who discussed refusing unlawful orders under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. While Hegseth claims that the military has clear procedures for handling such orders, he accuses Kelly and other lawmakers of undermining these procedures.
