GitHub has released a new model for its coding assistant tool, Copilot, called Claude Opus 4.5. This improved version is now available in public preview and offers enhanced performance compared to previous models. According to early testing, Claude Opus 4.5 outperforms internal benchmarks while using fewer tokens.
The new model will be available on the following platforms:
* GitHub Copilot Chat in VS Code (Agent, Plan, Ask, and Edit mode)
* GitHub Copilot Chat on github.com
* GitHub Copilot Chat on mobile devices (iOS and Android)
* Copilot CLI
To access Claude Opus 4.5, users need to follow these steps:
* Enterprise and Business plans: Administrators must enable the new policy in Copilot settings.
* Pro and Pro+ plans: Users can select the model in the model picker and confirm it.
