A new study from Kindai University has discovered that the common amino acid arginine can block harmful amyloid aggregation and reduce its toxic effects in animal models of Alzheimer’s disease. The researchers found that oral arginine supplementation lowered plaque levels, reduced inflammation, and improved behavior in flies and mice. This simple and low-cost approach could potentially provide a new treatment option for Alzheimer’s patients, who currently have limited access to effective therapies due to their high cost and potential side effects.
