Stop Internet Results on Windows 11 Search

Turn off internet results in Windows 11 search for a simplified experience.

Windows 11 offers the option to turn off web search results from the search bar. This feature can be beneficial, but it may not work correctly sometimes. You can disable this feature using Group Policy and the Registry. However, keep in mind that editing the Registry is risky and can cause irreversible damage if done incorrectly.

To stop internet results on Windows 11 search using Group Policy:

1. Open Start, type “Group Policy” and click to open.
2. Navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer.
3. Enable the policy “Turn off display of recent search entries in the File Explorer search box.”
4. Apply the changes by clicking the “Apply” button.

To turn off internet results using Registry:

1. Open Start, type “Registry” and click to open.
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows.
3. Create a new key called “Explorer.”
4. Inside this key, create a new DWORD value called “DisableSearchBoxSuggestions.”
5. Set the value of this DWORD to 1.

After completing these steps, restart your computer and you will receive system and file-related results only.

Remember, disabling internet results also disables search highlights on the Windows Search home page.
