Google has removed the Call Home feature from its Google Home app, effectively cutting support for calling devices like the Nest Hub Max directly. The feature, introduced in 2019, allowed users to send voice and video calls to smart displays using Google Duo.
The change was noticed by users on Reddit last week and confirmed through a review of the latest Home App update. Other features, such as the Broadcast button that lets you dictate messages, have also been removed – although it can still be accessed through the assistant.
One popular use of Call Home was for parents to call their children at home without having a phone. However, the feature is no longer available in the Google Home app. The reason behind its removal is not specified by Google.
