Low-Dose Zinc Mixture Improves Autism Symptoms in Mice

Researchers at Academia Sinica in Taiwan have discovered a low-dose mixture of zinc, serine, and branched-chain amino acids that alleviates behavioral deficits in mice with autism spectrum disorder. The study found that this combination promotes communication between brain cells and improves social behaviors.

The researchers tested their theory using three mouse models of autism and found that the supplement cocktail altered brain function, reducing abnormal neural activity and improving social behavior. In contrast, individual supplements had no effect when given separately.

The findings suggest that combining these nutrients at low doses can be a safer and more practical approach to addressing autism complexity. The study’s authors believe that this treatment could have long-term benefits for children with autism.
