Travel influencer Kurt Caz, who boasts 4 million subscribers, has faced backlash for a new YouTube video titled “Avoid This Place in London.” The 36-minute video shows Caz walking through the London borough of Croydon, where many residents are immigrants. He makes comments about crime and immigration, referring to non-white people as “interesting characters.”
However, experts claim that AI-generated editing has manipulated images to make it seem like the area is in disarray. The same frame appears differently on social media previews versus actual video footage.
Caz’s claims contradict his own footage. He says there are emergency services responding to a fire, but no such incident occurs in the video. A bike rider even gives him a fist bump after recognizing him from YouTube.
Many have criticized Caz for promoting dogwhistles and playing on racist fears of migrant hordes. The use of AI-generated images has become more prevalent among right-wing propagandists in the UK to spread anti-immigrant vitriol.
Caz did not respond to a request for comment.
