Google Messages for Web Falls Short in 2025

Google Messages is supposed to make texting from your computer easy, but the reality is far from perfect. As a loyal user of the Android app for years, I was excited to try out the web-based version. Unfortunately, the slow load times and poor functionality are driving me crazy.

Using Google Messages on a laptop or desktop can be frustrating, especially when compared to the dedicated app on my phone. The slow loading times make it feel like an outdated experience. I’ve had to wait up to 10 seconds for each text message, which is unacceptable in today’s fast-paced digital age.

The pairing situation also leaves much to be desired. I have to sign back in every few weeks or months, whereas my wife has never had to re-sign in to iMessage on her MacBook. This lack of seamless integration makes the whole experience feel clunky.

While I’m not asking for a perfect system, Google Messages needs to do better. A dedicated app available for download would make it easier to use and more enjoyable. It’s hard to believe that this is the best we can get in 2025.
